Mod Podge! Facelift on the vanity...

What I have learned from Mod Podge:
1. Not recommended for perfectionists.
2. Not as easy as a project as you may think, or hope.
3. You should really have all the supplies before attempting.

This weekend I decided to strip the white paint and stain it. yaa!

Anyhow, it still looks quite cool with the air bubbles and wrinkles. Brian scored the Puget Sound marine maps from work. The desk I painted antique white. It used to be orange and green.

 Didn't even bother to do the inside.

Today, I finished it and I LOVE it. The inside is black as well.. (Oil rubbed bronze from Krylon)

I wonder when Ace Hardware is going to cut me off from spray paint purchases...

There was a time in my life that I loved tans, browns, browns, and more browns... They make me angry now!

Sprayed it with a black primer from Krylon and then Rustoleum's Deep Blue Gloss

The stencil was tough. I printed out the numbers on Word and the used an exacto knife to cut them out. Taped them to the can with electrical tape and dabbed white paint with a small paint brush. I did have to even up some blobs with a Q-tip...

Doorknobs and hardware

A few coats of black primer, followed by ORB and a poly to finish it up.

Oil Rubbed Bronze (satin) from Krylon is the final color.

I inherited my dear Aunt Theresa's bedroom set about 10 years ago. 2 nightstands, 2 dressers, headboard and vanity from the 1950's. They have seen storage units, 3 or 4 moves and were desperately in need of a facelift. So here they are BEFORE and AFTER. I made the MISTAKE of painting one and HATED it. So I had to strip it down back to the original wood and finally re-stain it. Purchased new hardware and a protective glass top to protect the beautiful wood.

This dresser came with a very funky smell. It took MONTHS to air
out. A new fresh coat of paint and new knobs... it is not "Pottery Barn" but it is manufactured
from the same company who builds PB furniture.

The art of manifesting

Sometimes I have this talent. Manifesting what I want and need. I first saw these chairs about 4 months ago at Ikea for $60 a piece. OUCH. I HAD to replace the chairs I painted. Wait, let me rephrase that. I had to replace the two chairs my husband painted. I won't go into details, but he now states that it was a good thing he messed up the paint job because I never would have searched out these beauties!4 chairs for $75
